Chronicles of a Social Media newbie

Hey FELLAS,

(Exploring the Uncharted Territory of Social Media, One LinkedIn Profile at a Time)

I really didn't know how to start and where to... (2000 years later). I finally decided to set my chaos aside and join the journey of social media. Believe me, you guys ain't gonna believe I made my first social media account this month... LinkedIn was my first. Does it count as social? LMAO

I used to think it was going to feel like two espresso shots, you know, the dopamine rush (when I was a 14-year-old kid, yes-yes, from the Nokia world). This time it was more of an obligation, crap-crap... I had to really counter my thoughts and give myself solid reasons. By chance, I came up with a random plan—no plans. "Let's try," I said, and made it. We are millennials with a touch of Gen Z. For them, having a social media account is no big deal. Shawty, you'll have no idea. For a person like me who can't bear four people in a day and really needs a two-month vacation after this disclaimer stunt, I assured myself, "This is the only cool thing you did recently. Bear it, just don't delete it." Normally, you don't get congratulations for frivolous things, but damn, I received them. After all, my loved ones can't see me with a second opinion.

Fun banter apart, the past 3-4 years have seen the growth of social media. People are not just wasting their time on doom scrolling; they're really making money out of it. No doubt, it has perks too. You'll get the latest hot gossips, whether it's news or the latest trend. Living in the 21st century means you're not allowed to miss any of this. I have seen and experienced shopping on e-commerce stores, witnessed how many people choose to be entrepreneurs with a massive audience and open their stores online. The top-notch thing I discovered is influencer marketing. I feel what an ease for brands to build trust and reach people. You just have to fit that person into a certain follower criteria and promote the brands. Nowadays, kids have their own accounts, making content, and literally, parents are making new accounts for their newborn babies so they will have a certain number of followers by a certain age. I think our parent generation wanted us to be doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc. Now, pre-decided future things have changed with influencers, but it still fits the same. Time changes, emotions remain the same.

Well, there is no harm as such to try and see a part of yourself on social media.
